Football season is in full swing! It’s time for cookouts, Friday night lights, and those Saturday tailgate parties to watch the big game. Gosh, don’t you just LOVE this time of year? But, I feel like this is the time of year when temptation rears its ugly head, and increasingly so as we coast into the holiday season.
I’ve been asked many times how to navigate going to parties when they know that the food there won’t be on their plan. I get it. The temptation to graze and munch and load your plate up with all the carbs and sugar is strong. Especially when your will power is waning, it’s so hard to be surrounded by unhealthy foods and abstain completely. So my simple answer to that dilemma is to always bring something with you to the party that you know you can eat. Circumvent the temptation by having something there with you that is delicious and filling but you know is on plan. And, bonus, you can share the yumminess with others. I usually make a sweet and a savory dish so that I make sure I’ve got myself covered for both and can keep temptation at bay.
