New Exterior Door Paint Color

Recently, on my Facebook page, I let my fellow cultivators and creators choose a paint color for my exterior doors. It was so much fun! It’s not everyday (or not ever really) that I give up creative control of a project, but I have to say, I really enjoyed this process. I started with six colors, three green and three blue. I let you  guys vote for the top green and the top blue, and then let you vote on which color would be the winner.

The colors I chose were:

  • Rosepine by Benjamin Moore
  • Garden Spot by Sherwin Williams (the HGTV Home line)
  • Lottery Winnings by Olympic
  • Villa Blue by Valspar
  • Freedom Found by Olympic
  • Georgian Bay by Sherwin Williams (HGTV Home line)

The top two that were voted for were Freedom Found by Valspar and Lottery Winnings by Olympic.

My front door is recessed and shaded most of the day, and our side French doors stand in sunlight most of the day, so it was important that the color chosen look good in different lighting situations.  I loved my turquoise door, but had had that color for four or five years now and was just ready for a change. I am so excited about the color that was voted for! Here is your winner! Lottery Winnings by Olympic.

In addition to painting my front door, I also re-potted my planters with Arborvitae, caladiums, and Dichondra. I really like how it gave the front porch a more refined.

The side doors also got a fresh coat of paint. It was kind of different for us seeing this door painted because it’s always been white. But change is good in my book and I like how we now have a pop of color on this side of our home.
